Digital Inspiration

Pencil on White Paper

10 (length) x 8 (height)

Digital Inspiration captures the integration of several concepts related to the modern technological age and collective shifts of consciousness.

A portrait of the modern selfie; a photograph of modern interaction in the digital age. Inspired by a time spent on ZOOM in collaboration and dialogue with my Deer cohort member, and fellow social artist, HOWARD/Minh Trân.

Symbolic Images are used to capture discussion of Third World Feminism, the process of recalling/revisiting time spent on Pacifica campus prior to the pandemic, as well the experience of the virtual classroom.

Emphasis is placed on the crown of the head to bring symbolic awareness to spirit, represent imaginative capacities, visualization, dreaming, and the modern Covid-19 era of the Corona Virus.

The roots of a tree, as a grounding force, rooting to represent the process of reconnecting with ancestral lineage and deepening.

Join the live stream to deepen into the image through further compilation of digital archives.

Poetry for ALL

Featured on Soul Storytelling with the poem Poetry for All.

Feminine Fire

Ink on white paper

11 (length) x 8.5 (height)

Inspired by depth psychological study, lectures, and discussions of the feminine body; mythology, culture, and healing practices with Dr. Fanny Brewster and DPT 3rd year Deer cohort members.

 About the artist

Alma Gabriela is an LA native, interdisciplinary artist, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working on Ph.D. studies in Depth Psychology, Integrative Therapy, and Healing Practices at Pacifica Graduate Institute.

Founder of Creative Embodiment, Mestiz, and Soul Storytelling.

  • Alma Gabriela

Soy, Alma. I am an intuitive mestiza, mother, depth-psychotherapist, interdisciplinary artist, storyteller, and proud first generation daughter to Guatemalan parents.

I consider myself an intuitive artist; self-taught and primarily concerned with soul expression. Whether it be through drawing, painting, photography, poetry, body movement, dance, storytelling, music, and so forth; all art making is an expression of soul. In my personal practice, I capture my relationship with symbols, dream images, mythology and collective themes as they emerge in my psyche. Moved by intimate wounds, personal dream imagery, my spirituality and my relationships, I apply several disciplines of engaging the unconscious in order to deepen my relationship with self. I integrate practices that increase somatic awareness to reclaim the physical body and its full expressions, as well as to maintain an embodied presence and balanced health.
